Job Description: Responsible for the planning and procurement of components to meet production requirements. Manages inventory, develops target quantities, and minimizes total inventory expense while meeting required finished goods service goals. Coordinate replenishment and floor stocking programs with suppliers and support the Procurement Managers in their supplier optimization, quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

Job Description:

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Executes MRP for materials and issue purchase orders to ensure material availability per the Production Schedule

  • Reviews production schedule needs against inventory levels and storage capacity, to plan inbound bulk materials to meet operational needs.

  • Expedites with suppliers or explore alternative solutions to mitigate any known material shortages.

  • Communicates any known or potential material shortages delays or issues, while also working to develop solutions with suppliers and internal resources.

  • Attend the Daily Production Communication meeting to report issues and status.

  • Maintains files, such as inventory records and delivery performance reporting, to identify trends and seek opportunities for improvement in overall service.

  • Records complaints and takes action to resolve, as needed, should quality or delivery failures occur.

  • Manages transition of components related to reformulations, redesigns, new product introductions, and item discontinuations.

  • Interacts with R&D, Procurement, Scheduling, Sales Planning, Suppliers, and Category Planners to plan and execute smooth transition plans.

  • Maintains target inventory levels by monitoring inventory levels and appropriately recommends cost-reducing inventory actions to management.

  • Supports Corporate Procurement Managers in the implementation of any Divisional or Plant Cost Savings initiatives.

  • Reviews and assists to resolve invoicing discrepancies in SAP via either MRBR or VIM

  • Ensures inventory cycle counts of components are completed and necessary reconciliations occur.

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Communicate with all levels of management and subordinates using both verbal and written formats.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of organization, including vendors

  • Self-directed and self-motivated.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Minimum Experience Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and minimum of 3-5 years of Purchasing/Supply Chain experience. Must be willing to attend Supply Chain continuous education seminars or class work as needed.

  • Previous experience with SAP strongly desired.

  • Proficient with Excel/Power Point/Word and Access to include use of pivot tables. MS Office. Proficient use of computer programs and software.
